Introduction
The Redmi K80 series has been officially launched in China, featuring the Redmi K80 Pro. Which is equipped with the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This positions it as one of the most competitively priced smartphones with such a high-end system on a chip (SoC).
In addition to this, the K80 Pro introduces several enhancements compared to the standard model. Including improvements in the camera, chipset, and other specifications.
Specifications of Redmi K80 Pro
Display
6.67-inch OLED display with 1440 x 3200 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 12-bit color depth.
The display can achieve a peak brightness of 3200 nits, ensuring excellent visibility in bright sunlight. It supports HDR10+ content, Dolby Vision, and a color palette of 68 billion hues. The device is protected by Xiaomi’s proprietary Dragon Crystal 2.0 glass and includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Notably, the Pro model also boasts an IP68 rating for the first time.
Processor and Software
Discover exceptional power and visual brilliance with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, featuring a remarkable 120Hz 2K OLED screen and a sophisticated camera system. Xiaomi powers the Redmi K80 Pro with the high-performance Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and actively addresses potential overheating issues by integrating a 3D dual-loop vapor chamber cooling system. As a result, this system reduces temperatures by up to 3°C, ensuring efficient performance during intense use.
To enhance the gaming experience, the device features Xiaomi’s proprietary D1 chip, which optimizes functions like super-resolution, frame generation, and “super HDR.” This not only boosts frame rates in demanding games but also lightens the processor’s load, improving power efficiency. Furthermore, Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 2, built on Android 15, brings performance improvements, smoother animations, and advanced AI capabilities.
Camera Features
The primary camera features a 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 sensor, characterized by a substantial 1/1.55″ sensor size and a bright f/1.6 lens equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). This configuration supports 8K video recording at 24fps and 4K/1080p at up to 60fps, similar to the standard model.
Additionally, there is a 32MP ultra-wide lens with a 15mm focal length and a 120° field of view. However, the standard model lacks an extra Samsung JN5 1/2.76″ 50MP telephoto lens that offers 2.5x optical zoom. The device retains the same 20MP selfie camera as the regular Redmi K80.
Battery
The battery capacity has been increased to 6,000 mAh, which is less than the 6,550 mAh battery found in the standard model. Yet it supports faster 120W wired charging compared to the 90W available on the Redmi K80. Additionally, the Pro model features 80W wireless charging.
Price
The Redmi K80 Pro starts at $510 in China and is offered in black, green, and white color variants. A special edition, the Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse version, includes a themed case, back panel, charger, and more, starting at $690 and featuring increased memory.
