Microsoft Corporation stands as one of the largest technology corporations worldwide, innovating in hardware, software and cloud computing.

Microsoft was started in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen out of Albuquerque, New Mexico; it has since grown from a small software company to become and industry giant, shaping the world with their products that reach virtually all market segments.

Microsoft aims to unleash the power of all individuals and organizations with its mission “empower every person-mote”, having raised personal computing, utilise business application, cloud solutions etc.

Microsoft’s started with a simple BASIC programming language interpreter created for the early altair 8800 computer. But the real break for them came in 1980 when they developed MS-DOS, an operating system that IBM picked up for its first personal computer. This key event positioned Microsoft as a prominent player in the fledgling personal computing industry, and soon enough, they introduced Microsoft Windows – a Graphical User Interface (GUI) layer on top of MS-DOS to 1985.

When Windows 95 was launched, that began a new era for Microsoft; the first standard operating system and this personal computers with the revolutionary features of a Start menu _ multitasking that made its mark. In the decades that followed, Microsoft branched out into hardware, enterprise software, gaming, internet services, and more recently cloud computing AI advancement.

Microsoft’s operating systems play an important role in their success and continue to be the backbone of many computing environments across the globe.

Windows OS: Since its debut, Windows has been Microsoft’s flagship product and continues to evolve with Windows 11 being the latest version. Widely used, its user-friendly interface, security features, and support for a plethora of hardware make Windows suitable for personal computing as well as gaming and business applications. With versions like Windows Pro, Enterprise, and Education to cater to different needs, Windows is the dominant OS in desktop environments.

Windows Server: Microsoft’s Windows Server is a business-specific operating system that offers a reliable foundation for networks, applications, and data management. Windows Server in its Standard, Datacenter, and Essentials editions is also used in many other sizes of business data centers, data warehouse including enterprise environments to help resources like workloads which are being managed with much efficiency.

Microsoft is synonymous with productivity software, especially through its Office suite, which has become essential for businesses, educational institutions, and personal use worldwide.

Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365:

Microsoft Office & Office 365 suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, which have revolutionized document and spreadsheet creation, presentations, communications, etc.
Microsoft is migrating Office to the cloud with their new Microsoft 365 brand because it enables even more collaboration capabilities in real-time, cloud storage through OneDrive, and enhanced productivity features via subscription.
Microsoft 365 / Office 365 provides a scalable option for home, business and works best as an individual plan but is also sold in family packages or enterprise-grade solutions.

Microsoft Teams: launch in 2017, which has grown rapidly under the effects of the pandemic—has become an important tool for modern-day communication and collaboration. Teams is a platform that unifies chat, video conferencing, file storage and application integration—with seamless interoperability with Microsoft’s 365 apps.

Visual Studio: A comprehensive integrated development environment (IDE) used by software developers for building applications across platforms. Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code are popular choices for developers, supporting languages like C#, Python, and JavaScript, as well as features like debugging and collaboration.

Microsoft provides enterprise-grade server products that support a range of functions from data storage and networking to advanced business solutions.

SQL Server: Microsoft developed a relational database management system. It is a commonly used SQL Server by enterprises to manage and analyze data. Supporting business intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics, SQL Server is essential for enterprises managing their large-scale data operations.
